Main Divide Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 26-Nov-2014
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour, lighter on edge. This has a full, soft bouquet with densely packed aromas of ripe dark red berry fruits and plums, alongside dark herbs and earthy complexities, with some lift. Medium-full bodied, softly concentrated flavours of sweet red berry fruits form a good core with positive drive and energy. The fruit is lifted by red florals, and dark herb and savoury earthy elements add detail and interest. The mouthfeel is lively and fresh with good acid presence, and the wine follows a fine tannin line that carries to a fragrant, racy and dry finish with earthy elements. This is a softly concentrated, red-fruited Pinot Noir with earthy notes and fresh acidity. Serve with poultry, pork, veal and rabbit over the next 4-5 years. Waipara fruit destemmed and indigenous yeast fermented with whole berries to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 18 months in French oak barrels. 17.5+/20 Nov 2014 RRP $24.95
