Indigenous yeast fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 18 months in 20% new French oak barriques. Very dark, black-hued ruby-red colour with good depth. This has a full, soft, broad and open bouquet with aromas of ripe black-red berry fruits dark plums and savoury earth notes. There is a good core which reveals liquorice, spices and dark herbal elements and dusty, seasoned oak. Full-bodied, rich, dark plum flavours are complemented by Asian spice, earth and mushroom notes. The fruit is juicy and mouthfilling, with supple tannins in support. There is some alcohol drive, and the wine finishes with fresh, lacy acidity enhancing the fruit liveliness. This is a fulsome, broad Pinot Noir with rich plummy, earthy flavours and some underlying power. Match with coq au vin and slow cooked gamey meat dishes over the next 4-5+ years. 18.0/20 Apr 2013 RRP $24.99
