Main Divide Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 22-Apr-2015
Late-picked Waipara Valley fruit with a portion botrytis affected, fermented to 14.0% alc. and approx. 15 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. Full lemony yellow with golden hues, lighter on rim. This has a full, solid and deeply concentrated nose with aromas of ripe, savoury stonefruits, tropical fruits, honey and musk, along with marmalade-like botrytis. The aromatics are complex and blossom in volume and layers of interest. Medium in sweetness and medium-full bodied, the palate is softly packed with rich and rounded flavours of yellow stonefruits, honey and marmalade, along with musk and earth. The acidity is low, enhancing the softness and near unctuousness of the mouthfeel. This has good weight and presence. The wine flows smoothly to a soft and long, lingering finish. This is a softly full, luscious and rounded medium Pinot Gris with savoury stonefruits, marmalade and musk flavours. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3+ years. 17.5+/20 Apr 2015 RRP $19.95
