Main Divide Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 26-Jun-2013
Fruit picked late to include botrytised grapes, cool-fermented to 14.0% alc. and 16.4 g/L rs, a portion in barrel, and the wine aged on lees. Bright, full, light straw-yellow colour with golden hues. This has a full, rich and deeply packed nose of ripe yellow stonefruits and honey, with complex talc botrytis, minerals and reductive flinty elements in a dense melange. Medium-dry to medium in taste, softly broad and mouthfilling flavours of ripe yellow stonefruits, honey and exotic florals reveal layers of minerals, flint and talc. The palate is rich and gently succulent, balanced by refreshing acidity. The flavours flow smoothly, with very fine phenolic textures, carrying through to a long, lingering finish showing tropical fruit and honey nuances. This is a rich and complex, layered medium-dry Pinot Gris in the Alsace style. Match with Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine over the next 3-4 years. 18.0+/20 Jun 2013 RRP $19.95
