Main Divide Waipara Valley Merlot/Cabernet 2012

Merlot from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 22-Apr-2015
Very dark, deep, black-red colour with youthful purple hues on rim. The bouquet is elegant, restrained and refined with integrated aromas of redcurrants, blackcurrants, herbs and some cooler-spectrum stalky elements, with a core of spicy, black berry fruits. Medium-bodied, the palate is fleshy and juicy with plush red and black berryfruits entwined with green olive, currant, leaf and herbal nuances. The fruit is supported by a fine-grained tannin line lending moderate structure. The mouthfeel possesses fresh, lacy, background acidity, which carries the palate to a soft, sweet finish with freshness and vitality. This is a soft, fleshy Merlot and Cabernet blend with cooler-spectrum flavours and a fresh mouthfeel. Match with pasta, pizza and barbecued food over the next 4 years. A blend of 40% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Malbec, indigenous yeast fermented to13.5% alc., the wine aged 2 years in French oak barriques. 16.5+/20 Apr 2015 RRP $19.95
