Main Divide Waipara Valley Gewurztraminer 2013

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 11-Jul-2015
Waipara Valley fruit cool-fermented to 14.5% alc. and 16 g/L RS, TA 3.9 g/L, a portion matured in seasoned large oak barrels. Bright, light golden-yellow colour with some depth. The nose is softly full and gently packed with harmoniously integrated aromas of ripe, exotic florals melded with root ginger, spices and musk. Subtle honied elements and flinty, minerally lees detail emerge with aeration. Medium-dry to medium in taste, the palate features a good core with restrained flavours of exotic florals and root ginger, interwoven with honey, spice and musk. The mouthfeel is smooth and rounded with soft acidity, and a suggestion of unctuousness. Tthe palate has some underlying alcohol drive and power that carries the wine to a solid, concentrated finish with a little varietal bitterness. This is a restrained, harmoniously rich and smooth, medium Gewurztraminer with floral and ginger flavours. Match with Middle Eastern cuisine and with semi-hard cheeses over the next 3+ years. 18.0/20 Jul 2015 RRP $20.99
