Main Divide Waipara Valley Gewurztraminer 2012

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 03-Apr-2015
The first Gewurztraminer under the Main Divide label. Waipara Valley fruit cool-fermented to 14.0% alc. and 18.3 g/L RS, a portion of the wine aged in seasoned large format oak. Bright, full, light golden colour, lighter on rim. The nose is full with well-concentrated aromas of rose-petal florals, musk, honey and ginger that unfold in ethereal and harmonious waves, growing in volume in the glass. Medium in sweetness, this has a full and flavoursome palate with layers of rose-petal florals, spices and ginger and musk that unfold smoothly, filling the palate. There is good depth, density and weight, with the fruit richness balanced by soft, fine textures, and plenty of integral alcoholic power providing drive. The mouthfeel is near unctuous, and the wine carries to a long, lush finish of florals and musk. This is a soft, rich and harmoniously powerful, medium Gewurztraminer with musk and ginger flavours. Match with Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3-4 years. 18.5/20 Jun 2014 RRP $19.95
