Main Divide Waipara Valley Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 26-Nov-2014
Bright, light golden-yellow colour with some depth, lighter on rim. The nose is firmly concentrated with aromas of white and yellow stonefruits infused with flinty lees and mineral notes, nutty and toasty oak, and savoury lemon curd and buttery MLF elements in a complex amalgam. Medium-full bodied, the flavours are tightly bound and restrained, with a core of stonefruits and citrus fruits layered with minerals, toast ant nutty interest. This has depth and presence, and there is good acidity and some alcoholic power underlining the fruit. The wine leads to a strong, dry-textured, moderately long finish. This is a full, weighty Chardonnay with restrained, but complex stonefruit and minerally flavours. Serve with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 4 years. Waipara Valley fruit indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged a year in barrel on lees, the wine undergoing partial MLF. 17.5+/20 Nov 2014 RRP $19.95
