Main Divide Waipara Valley Chardonnay 2012

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 21-Mar-2014
Waipara Valley fruit fully barrel-fermented by indigenous yeasts to 13.5% alc., the wine aged one year in 20% new French oak with 100% MLF. Bright, full, light golden-hued straw-yellow colour with depth, lighter on edge. The nose is fresh, elegant and tightly packed with piquant, penetrating citrus fruit aromas intermixed with flinty lees complexities, smoky oak and reductive elements. Dry and medium-bodied, a deep, but softly concentrated core of yellow stonefruits and citrus fruits is the feature on palate. The fruit has mealy, flinty and oak detail adding interest, and the flavours show some richness and sweetness, balanced by clean, crisp and clear acidity. This has good energy and liveliness, and the flavours of flint and citrus follow an elegant line to a fresh, brisk finish. This is an elegantly concentrated, refreshing Chardonnay with complex flinty flavours. Serve with poultry and pork over the next 3-4 years. 17.5+/20 Mar 2014 RRP $19.95
