Main Divide Te Hau Reserve Pinot Noir 2021, North Canterbury

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 06-Nov-2022
Deep ruby-red, slightly lighter on the rim. The nose is elegantly full, with aromas of earth, dark cherry and blackberry, dark herb and subtle spice. Medium-bodied, aromas of dark fruit entwined with dark herb, cinnamon, black pepper, mushroom and earthy clay. The mouthfeel is silky and with supple tannin extraction. The wine is elegantly rich with good energy, shows balanced fruit and acid enriched by earthy mushroom elements. Match with smoked duck breast and lamb over the next 5-7 years. Abel clone from a single vineyard, cool-soaked in vats for approx a week, the must started to ferment naturally to 13%, post-ferment maceration for a week, then pressed off to French oak barriques, underwent MLF in summer, matured for 12 months. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Nov 2022 RRP $32.95
