Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 23-Mar-2022
Bright, pale yellow with some depth, even colour throughout. Light effervescent clinging to the side of the glass. The wine has a complex bouquet, softly filling the glass leading with mandarin and peels, along with lime, stonefruit, beeswax, ginger and honey. Medium-full bodied, off-dry to taste, aromas of nectarine, lime taken over by mandarin and zest, ginger warming the back palate, unfolding beeswax and honey. There is a hint of kerosene lingering with white spice added interest. Seamless, salivating acidity entwined with citrus peels, balancing sweetness lend a dry, sustained finish. This is a juicy, well-balanced Riesling with a citrus core and complex flavour range. Match with salt & pepper calamari and German bratwurst over the next 5 years. Fermented to 12% alc. 18.5-/20 pts (92 pts) Mar 2022 RRP $20.99
