Main Divide Pinot Noir 2019, North Canterbury

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 25-Aug-2021
Moderately deep ruby-red, lighter edged. The nose is gently full, penetrating nuances of pepper berries, cherries and strawberries interweave cinnamon, dark herbs and an earthy underlay. Medium-full bodied, the richness of earth and barrel spices filled the palate, entwined with cherries, black raspberries and savoury mushrooms. The palate has weight and depth of savoury details, fine-grained tannin compliments and left a velvety mouthfeel. Herbs linger on the closing. This is a brilliant value Pinot Noir with North Canterbury essence, rich and savoury on a silky broad palate. Match with wild boar and lamb shoulder over the next 5+ years. Cold-soaked with 40% whole bunch for 7 days approx, wild fermented to 13.5% alc, post-ferment maceration up to a week, aged in French oak barriques, 20% new oak for 18 months. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Aug 2021 RRP $24.99
