Main Divide Pinot Gris 2020, North Canterbury

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 05-May-2022
Bright, even, pale straw-yellow. Subtle effervescent on the side of the glass. The wine has a soft, autumnal bouquet, penetrating aromas of pear, quince, and yellow blossom underlying savoury lees. Full-bodied, off-dry to taste, a spritz sensation carries flavours of pear, quince and citrus zest, interweave dandelion, honey and five-spice. The wine has good weight and fruit concentration; five-spice lifted the sweet entry and added interest. Lively, balanced acidity lengthens the palate along with subtle phenolics. This textural, bright and generous Pinot Gris possesses voluminous autumnal flavours, honey, spice details on a crisp line and a flavoursome finish. Match with Korean spicy pork belly and chicken liver pate over the next 3-4 years. Fermented cool in stainless steel tanks to 13% alc, 11.3g/l RS, aged on lees for a short period before bottling. 18+/20 pt (91 pts) Apr 2022 RRP $20.99
