Main Divide North Canterbury Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 12-Jun-2017
Full, even, light golden-hued yellow colour with some depth, lighter on the rim. This has a full, broad and voluminous nose with aromas of yellow stonefruits intermingling with herb and green nutty elements, unfolding a layering of lees and smoky suggestions. Medium-full bodied, the palate is broad and fulsome with gently mouthfilling flavours of white and yellow stonefruits intermixed with subtle green nutty notes, lees elements and a little oak. The flavours are underlined by a little alcohol drive, the wine flowing smoothly along a soft-textured line, with balancing acidity. The flavours recede a little as the wine carries to a gently rich and soft finish. This is a softly full, up-front and broad, mouthfilling Chardonnay with stonefruit and lees flavours along with herb and nutty notes, on a smooth-flowing, driven palate. Match with seafood, poultry and most white meat dishes over the next 4 years. North Canterbury fruit fully indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged one year in 10% new French oak barrels, with 60% MLF. 17.5/20 Jun 2017 RRP $20.99
