Main Divide Merlot Cabernet 2019, North Canterbury

Blended Red from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 05-May-2022
Deep, ruby-red with depth, lighter on the rim. The nose is full; an alluring red and black fruit aroma interweaves a meaty nuance, menthol and spice. Full-bodied, red and blackberries, plums have concentration and a savoury edge, liquorice, menthol melded with leathery, meaty elements. The fruit has richness and concentration, contributing to the weight. Seamlessly integrating fruit, barrel and development, supported by acidity and vitality. This is a well-structured Merlot Cabernet blend, with harmonious red and black fruit with varietal details, balanced barrel elements, and meaty nuance added interest. Match with beef brisket and meat roast over the next 3-5 years. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and a small portion of Cabernet Franc. Natural fermentation in stainless steel tanks, pumped over, fermented to 13.5% alc, then pressed off to French oak barriques for 12 months, 10% new oak. 18.5-/20 pts (92 pts) May 2022 RRP $20.99
