Main Divide Chardonnay 2021, North Canterbury

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 05-May-2022
Bright, pale straw-yellow with depth, even colour throughout. The nose is poised and softly full, greeted with a note of struct match on the entry, underlying stonefruit, citrus, warm butter and roasted nuts. Medium-full bodied, butterscotch aromas filled the palate, along with stonefruit, warm butter and sugar-coated almond. Harmoniously presented with well-proportioned barrel elements. A creamy mouthfeel is elevated and supported by a lively acid line, unfolding subtle spices and a lingering finish. This scrumptious Chardonnay possesses generous fruit and harmonious secondary elements with an immediate appeal. Match with roasted pork and chicken over the next 3-5 years. Fermented in large French oak barriques with full solids and natural yeasts to 13.5% alc, matured in the barriques on own lees, and underwent MLF. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) May 2022 RRP $20.99
