Main Divide Chardonnay 2020, North Canterbury

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 25-Aug-2021
Bright, pale straw-yellow with depth, even colour throughout. The nose is softly full with intensity, aromas of peach and citrus entwined with smoky flint, roasted nuts and toasty oak elements. Medium-full bodied, peach, nectarine melded with grapefruit zest, unfolding roasted cashews, toast and barrel spices. The wine is youthful with bright, upfront fruit; barrel fermentation enriched the flavours and palate weight, linger with nuts and barrel spice nuances to a long sustained finish. Match this with roasted chicken and pork grill over the next 3-4 years. The non-clarified juice was fermented in large French oak barriques to 13.5% alc, aged on its lees, went through MLF in late spring. 18/20 pts (90 pts) Aug 2021 RRP $20.99
