Main Divide Canterbury Pinot Noir 2009

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 30-Mar-2012
Dark ruby-red colour with good depth, somegarnet hues on rim. The nose is a little subdued, but showing ripe dark red berry fruits with savoury, mushroom and dark herb aromas, growing in waves of secondary spice and game interest. Medium-full bodied, soft mouthfilling flavours flow with an array of interest and interaction. Dark red berry fruits, forest-floor earth and herbs, spices and cedar are woven together, and supported by supple tannins and some good acidity, resulting in an even, plush texture and gentle, smooth finish. This is a soft, supple Pinot Noir with a layered amalgam of sweet and savoury flavours. Match with casseroles and slow-cooked meat dishes over the next 3-4+ years. Fruit destemmed and indigenous yeast fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 18 months in French oak barriques. 18.0-/20 Mar 2012 RRP $24.95
