Mahurangi River ‘Pretty in Pink’ Matakana Merlot Rosé 2012

Rose from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 05-Dec-2012
Light cerise-pink colour with some youthful purples hues on edge. Fresh, bright strawberry and cherry aromas are lifted by attractive confectionary and red floral notes, the bouquet revealing some herbal and earthy nuances in the glass. Medium in sweetness, bright strawberry and cherry confectionary flavours are the feature on the palate. This is sweet, juicy and lollyish, and the mouthfeel is soft, plush and lively with good acidity, which along a little textural line provides some structure. The residual sugar carries the juicy confectionary flavours on the finish. This medium-sweet rosé is very fruity with lollyish flavours. Drink on a summer's day on the veranda. Keep 2 years. Estate Merlot fruit given 8 hours skin contact and cool-fermented to 12.0% alc. and 20 g/L rs, the wine aged on lees for 2 months. 50 cases made. 16.0+/20 Dec 2012 RRP $24.00
