Mahi ‘Twin Valleys’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 02-Mar-2017
Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues and some depth, lighter edged. The nose is very elegant and finely concentrated with good depth of white stonefruit and citrus fruit aromas melded with soft nutty and flinty elements and a complexing oxidative suggestion, revealing some oak toastiness with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate has a strong core with deep flavours of ripe white and yellow stonefruits and citrus fruit, interwoven with nutty lees and toasty oak notes. The palate possesses a creamy barrel-ferment richness and is underlined by a fine phenolic thread. Refreshing acidity provides balance, and the wine flows with vibrancy to a long, lingering finish. This is a stylishly rich Chardonnay with stonefruit and citrus flavours complexed by nutty, flinty and toasty detail on a fine-textured, vibrant palate. Match with poultry and pork dishes over the next 4-5 years. Hand-picked clone 95 fruit from the ‘Twin Valleys’ vineyard, Fareham Lane, Waihopi, WBP and indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to 13.6% alc., the wine aged 15 month on lees in 10% new oak, then given further time on lees in tank. 18.5/20 Mar 2017 RRP $39.00
