Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough

Clear, even, pale yellow. This has a gentle bouquet, with aromas of nectarine, citrus and zest, blossom, wet stone and flinty attributes. Medium-bodied, aromas of nectarine, lemon, lemon zest and curd, melded with blossom, stony minerals, cardamom and baguette crust. The creamy mouthfeel embraces harmonious aromatics, unfolding minerals and spice. A touch of lemon pith elevates the fruit's sweetness, lending a sleek, long, fluid finish. This Chardonnay is harmoniously composed, enticing with mineral texture, good energy and delineation. Match with butter-poached turbot and langoustine over the next 6+ years. Fruit from the Wrekin vineyard in the Wairau Valley at the head of Brancott. Handpicked, whole bunch pressed to French oak barrels, fermented with indigenous yeasts from the vineyard, left on lees for 15 months before bottling. 14.1% alc. 19+/20 pts (96 pts) Mar 2025 RRP $45
