Mahi Marlborough Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 02-Mar-2017
Bright straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, pale on the rim. This has a tightly bound core of white stonefruits and white florals entwined with subtle nutty lees and oak nuances, and suggestions of minerals, unfolding to grow in volume and breadth. Medium-bodied, the palate is finely presented and well-proportioned with stylishly restrained flavours of white stonefruits, along with subtle nutty lees and mineral detail. The wine is smooth-flowing with a very fine, near seamless texture, and is balanced by light, lacy acidity. The wine carries to a delicate finish of white stonefruits. This is an elegant and finely presented Chardonnay with white stonefruit flavours and a smooth flowing, fresh line. Serve with seafood and poultry over the next 4 years. Fruit from the ‘Cook’, ‘Twin Valleys’, and ‘Taylor’ vineyards, and a small amount of clone 1066 from the ‘Home’ block, hand-picked, WBP and indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to 13.7% alc., the wine aged 11 months on lees in 4% new barrels. 17.5/20 Mar 2017 RRP $29.00
