Bright straw-yellow colour, lighter on rim. The nose is elegantly proportioned with intense and seamlessly interwoven aromas of white stonefruits and florals, flinty lees and reduction complexities, and minerals, unfolding delicate nuances of citrus fruit, lemon curd MLF and toasty oak hints with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate is tightly bound with flavours of white stonefruits, mealy and nutty notes and chalky minerals. The mouthfeel is fresh with crisp acidity and the palate is guided by a dry, grainy textural thread. This has good linearity and a firm linearity that leads to a dry, nutty, flinty finish. Complex and seamlessly presented on the nose, this Chadonnay is tightly bound and youthfully firm and grainy on palate. It will develop richness and become rounder over the next 3-4+ years. Serve with seafood and poultry. A range of clones from the ‘Cook’, ‘Taylor’ and a small portion from the ‘Twin Valley’ vineyards at the western end of the Wairau Valley, hand-picked, WBP and indigenous yeast barrel-fermented with high solids to 13.7% alc., the wine aged 11 months on lees in French oak barriques, a small portion undergoing MLF. 18.0+/20 Dec 2014 RRP $29.00
