Mahi Boundary Farm Sauvignon Blanc 2019, Marlborough

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 28-May-2021
Bright, pale yellow with some depth, sightly colourless on the rim. The nose is full and complex, nuances of flinty crushed rocks, smoky lees with a grassy, herbaceous background, entwined with lime and guava hint. Medium-full bodied, bright on the palate with a prickly layer of white spices, the refreshing acid line brings out lime and guava, subtle smoky lees complexity along a lemon curd flavoured chalky mineral palate, linger to a very long, dry finish. A poised phenolic structure echoes the enticing stony minerals and salinity, supported by brilliant acidity, which shows vitality and precision. This is an age-worthy, complex Sauvignon Blanc with purity, great texture and multi-layered brilliance. Match with Storm clams in seaweed butter and lemongrass pork chop over the next 6-8 years. Fruit was sourced from a small hillside parcel on the southeast boundary of Blenheim. Handpicked, whole bunch pressed, without any chemical additions, fermented with indigenous yeast in French oak barriques to 14.4% alc, 1.8 g/ RS. Left on yeast lees for 11 months, lees stirred regularly, no fining. 19/20 pts (95 pts) May 2021 RRP $34.90
