M & A Wines Pinot Noir 2020, Marlborough

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 27-Jan-2021
Deep, ruby red with a purple hue and moderate transparency, lighter on the rim. The nose is poise, softly penetrating red cherries, cherry-plums, melded with sweet spices and subtle florals. Medium-bodied, the palate is youthful and bright, pretty nuances of red cherries, black cherry-plums has a fine core, adorn by sweet spices of cinnamon, vanilla and black pepper, followed by subtle floral scent. There is an elegant thread of powdery tannin throughout the palate, delicate and refined; supported by lacy acidity and black pepper spice linger to a polished finish. This is a youthful and bright Pinot Noir with elegant features and a lingering refined finish. Match with smoked duck breast and beetroot goat's cheese tart over the next 4 years. Clones 777, 667, 665 from Waihopai Valley, 35% whole bunch, aged 8 months in seasoned French oak, 13.5% alc. Egg white fining, unfiltered. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Jan 2021 RRP $35
