Lynfer Estate Wairarapa Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 27-Jun-2015
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim. The nose is soft and elegant with an amalgam of ripe tropical fruit and lantana melded harmoniously with savoury secondary bean elements and cooler gooseberry and nettle nuances. Some punchy mineral notes emerge in the glass. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, soft flavours of savoury asparagus are entwined with tropical fruits, gooseberries and grass. The fruit and mouthfeel is smooth in flow and texture with a little chalkiness underlining the palate, balancing the fruit sweetness. The light phenolics and crisp, lacy acidity carries the flavours to a dry, textured finish. This is a light, lush Sauvignon Blanc with some secondary development and a light chalkiness. Match with seafood and Mediterranean fare over the next 18 months. Fruit from the Lynfer ‘Dakins Road’ vineyard cool-fermented to 13.7% alc. and 1.0 g/L RS, TA 7.1 g/L and pH 3.02. 16.0+/20 Jun 2015 RRP $18.00
