Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 24-May-2022
Bright, eve, pale straw yellow. The nose is soft, with sweet aromas of ripe pear, melon immerged with lily blossom and ginger dusting. Medium-bodied, dry to taste, tropical pineapple fruit aromas merged with melon and pear formed a fine core, interweave with rich lily, and ginger lingered with refreshing acidity to a sustained finish. Mouthfeel is delicately textural, oily on the entry, then unfolds subtle and refined phenolics, leaving a silky touch. This is a thoughtful Pinot Gris with balanced lush fruit, refreshing acidity and a sophisticated textural palate. Match with steamed pork buns and white fish over the next 5 years. The fruit was machine harvested, membrane pressed without preservatives, and then inoculated in stainless steel tank, 10% of the juice was transferred to neutral French oak and another 10% juice to a concrete egg to finish fermentation, underwent partial MLF, 12.5% alc, 6.1 g/l RS. Organic certified. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) May 2022 RRP $22.99
