Louis Roederer Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2006

Sparkling Wine from France - Champagne
Review Date : 13-Sep-2012
100% Chardonnay from Les Mesnil sur Oger and Avize grand cru sites, 20% aged in oak with batonnage, no MLF, spending 5 years on lees, bottled with 8-10 g/L dosage and less atmospheric pressure. Very pale straw-yellow with a fine, persistent bead, this has a very fine, tight and penetrating bouquet with fine cut and intensity. Pure aromas of white florals and subtle citrus notes are complexed by steel, bready-yeasty autolysis. Dry to taste, this is lively and very finely presented, the high acidity contributing to the crisp and steely mouthfeel. Florals, hints of nuts and bread show with clarity. Beautifully cutting, but with an underlying round, rich core and a subtle lusciousness, this is very fine-textured, the palate carrying through to a very long finish with noticeable dosage sweetness. Serve as an aperitif and with shellfish over the next 4-5+ years. 18.5-/20 Sep 2012 RRP $145.00
