Longbush ‘Bird Series’ Gisborne Gewurztraminer 2013

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 10-Mar-2015
Light golden-yellow colour with some depth. This has a softly full and voluminous nose that opens showing root ginger and rose petal florals, freshened by a steely core. Off-dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate features a good core of root ginger, rose-petal florals exotic spices and musky, earthy elements. The mouthfeel is rounded and weighty with good presence, and enlivened by lacy, slippery acidity. As the wine flows, some phenolic grip emerges and carries through to a lively finish with bitter fruit notes. This off-dry Gewurztraminer has a rounded core of root ginger and musk flavours with a littler varietal bitterness on the finish. Serve with Middle Eastern fare and semi-hard cheeses over the next 2 years. Gisborne fruit fermented to 13.5% alc. and 8 g/L RS. 16.0+/20 Mar 2015 RRP $19.99
