Lone Hill ‘Single Vineyard’ Waitaki Valley Pinot Gris 2011

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 24-May-2012
Bright, pale straw yellow colour with slight green hues, pale on rim. The nose is fresh with white stonefruit, mineral and flinty aromas with some pear drop and saline notes emerging, very much in the Pinot Grigio style. Dry to taste, bright, lively pear, tropical fruit and sherbetty fruit flavours mark the impact, with lush notes of honey and pears unfolding in the glass. The acidity is discreet, lending softness to the mouthfeel. The palate has depth, with some textural grip showing, this balanced by some sweetness and lively acid on the finish. This Pinot Gris has attractive, subtly exotic fruit and a lusciousness that is balanced by some dry textures. Fruit from the ‘Lone Hill' vineyard, fermented to 13.3% alc. and 4.09 g/L rs. Match with slightly spicy Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes over the next 3-4+ years. 17.0/20 May 2012 RRP $25.00
