Lone Goat ‘Winemaker’s Collection’ Canterbury Riesling 2009

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 15-Feb-2016
Full, deep, bright golden-yellow colour, a little lighter edged. This has a firmly concentrated bouquet of lime and ripe citrus fruit and complex, detailed secondary layers of toast and minerals and suggestions of honey. The nose retains a fresh, underlying steeliness. Medium-sweet and light-bodied, the palate features rich, luscious and succulent flavours of yellow flowers, citrus fruits, honey and toast, all harmoniously interwoven. Secondary creaminess and custard elements emerge in the glass. The mouthfeel is soft, smooth and near-unctuous, and the wine flows seamlessly, following a very fine phenolic line. The roundness of the palate is enhanced by soft, lacy acidity, and the wine carries to a long, rich, soft-textured finish of honey and toast. This is a rich, lush, medium-sweet Riesling with layers of honey and secondary toast flavours, and a smooth mouthfeel. Serve as an aperitif, with fruit or soft cheeses over the next 3-4 years. Fruit cool-fermented to 11.0% alc. and 40 g/L RS. 18.5/20 Feb 2016 RRP $18.00
