Lone Goat ‘Winemaker’s Collection’ Canterbury Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 15-Feb-2016
Brilliant lemon-hued straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, pale edged. The nose is fresh and vibrant with intense and fragrant aromas of citrus and stonefruits, pears and musk, expressed with clarity and focus. Medium-sweet to sweet in taste and medium-full bodied, the flavours of yellow stonefruits, pears, honey and musk are well interwoven and somewhat shy in expression. This has good presence and density on the palate with richness and lusciousness, the low acidity enhancing the rounded and unctuous mouthfeel. The wine flows smoothly, with some underlying alcohol power leading to a soft finish with stonefruit and musk notes. Aromatically fresh and vibrant, this sweet Pinot Gris is restrained in flavour, but unctuous and smooth with stonefruit and musky flavours. Serve as an aperitif, with fruit desserts and spicy foods over the next 3-4 years. Pinot Gris fruit tank-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 40 g/L RS, the wine given extended lees contact. Winemaker: Sean Houghton. 18.0/20 Feb 2016 RRP $18.00
