Mendoza clone fruit from vines planted in 1981, fermented in seasoned oak to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in barrel with batonnage and partial MLF. Full, light golden-yellow colour with some depth. The nose is softly full and harmoniously presented with interwoven layers of yellow stonefruits, creamy barrel-ferment and nutty oak notes and oxidative detail. The aromatics have depth and density. Medium-bodied, this has a well-concentrated core of yellow stonefruits entwined with nutty oak and complexing oxidative elements. The mouthfeel is integrated and smooth with creamy barrel-ferment roundness, and the palate flows along a fine-textured, phenolic line. Fine acidity lends freshness and poise, carrying the wine to a long, lingering finish of stonefruits and nuts. This is a harmonious, smooth Chardonnay with complex stonefruit, nutty and oxidative flavours. Match with poultry, pork and veal dishes over the next 3+ years. 17.5-/20 Feb 2016 RRP $20.00
