Locharburn Central Otago Pinot Gris 2017

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 02-Jan-2018
Bright, even, pale straw-yellow colour, lighter on the edge. The nose is elegant in expression with finely concentrated aromas of white stonefruits and florals with suggestions of exotic tropical fruits along with subtle honied elements and nuts. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate has a finely concentrated heart with restrained flavours of white and yellow stonefruits with nuances of florals, honeysuckle and nuts. The mouthfeel is fresh with fine acidity and the wine flows along a very refined, threaded line leading to a slender, lingering finish. This is an elegantly concentrated dry Pinot Gris with stylish flavours of stonefruits and florals, with nuances of honeysuckle and nuts on a fresh palate. Serve with Thai, Vietnamese or Japanese cuisine over the next 3+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Locharburn’ vineyard, vines 12-13 y.o., 50% destemmed and 50% given overnight skin contact, and fermented in tank and oak barrels to 14.0% alc. and 3 g/L RS. 17.5/20 Jan 2018 RRP $26.95
