Full, bright, golden-yellow colour with light lemon-green hues, paler edged. This has a fresh, solid and well-packed nose of ripe apricot fruit aromas entwined with citrus zest, unfolding savoury stonefruit and mineral elements. Dryish to taste and full-bodied, the palate features fulsome and robust, deep fruit flavours of rich and ripe, lusciously sweet apricot flavours along with citrus zest, exotic florals and tropical fruits. The mouthfeel is weighty with good presence and a degree of unctuousness, the soft acidity lending roundness. Some soft phenolics and alcohol warmth provide power and drive, and the wine carries to a soft, rich, robust finish. This is a fulsome, off-dry, ripe Viognier with apricot and citrus zest flavours on a powerful, robust palate. Match with hearty seafood, poultry and pork dishes, and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the Dartmoor Valley tank and barrel-fermented, partially with indigenous yeasts to 13.8% alc. and 6.1 g/L RS., the wine aged 9 months in seasoned oak. 17.5+/20 May 2016 RRP $25.00
