Linden Estate Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2014

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 19-May-2016
Dark ruby-red colour with youthful black hues, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is fine in concentration and proportion with aromas of blackberry fruit intermixed with reductive black-mineral notes. Some black pepper emerges with aeration. Medium-bodied and elegant in presentation, the flavours of ripe blackberry fruit are entwined with dark herbs, black pepper and minerally reductive elements. The palate is moderately rich and the fruit sweetness balanced by soft tannin extraction and structure, with integrated acidity in the background. The fruit is reserved, but carries positively to an elegant and slender, dry finish of black fruits and reductive nuances. This is an elegant Syrah with black fruits and some minerally reduction on a soft, balanced palate. Match with roasted and grilled game meat dishes over the next 5+ years. Syrah fruit, 60% from Esk Valley and 40% from Bridge Pa Triangle, fermented to 13.3% alc., the wine spending 30 days on skins and aged 12 months in French oak. 16.5/20 May 2016 RRP $30.00
