Linden Estate Esk Valley Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2013

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 02-Sep-2015
Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour. The nose is full, even and up-front with oft and ripe aromas of blackberries and plums, along with layers of sweet vanillin and cedary oak. Nuances of black pepper and savoury, dark red florals emerge in the glass. Medium-full bodied, soft and gently rich flavours of ripe blackberries and plums are melded with sweet vanilla and cedary oak layers, with black pepper detail adding interest. The mouthfeel is plush and juicy, with fine, supple tannin grip and structure in support. The wine has accessibility and presence, and the palate carries its core to a light, finish with cedary oak notes. This is a gently rich, sweet, black-fruited Syrah with cedary oak and a fine, supple mouthfeel. Serve with Middle Eastern lamb dishes over the next 6-7 years. Late-harvested fruit, hand-picked from the terraced estate vineyard warm-fermented to 13.8% alc., the wine on skins 28 days post ferment and aged 19 months in French barriques. 18.0-/20 Sep 2015 RRP $30.00
