Linden Estate Esk Valley Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2011

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 20-Oct-2013
Fruit from estate vineyards at Eskdale, fermented to 13.8% alc., the wine aged over one year in 25% new French oak barriques. Very full, deep, black-hued ruby-red, youthful in appearance. This has a soft, voluminous nose with subtle waves of black fruits, spices and pepper, harmoniously entwined with cedar, secondary earth and oak elements. Medium-full bodied, a full, soft and rich array of flavours opens out on the palate. Spicy, dark berry fruits, spices, cedar and pepper flow smoothly, supported by supple tannins and balanced texture and structure. The acidity is integral, and enlivens the mouthfeel, adding to the drive, and carrying through to a soft, lingering finish of spices, brown fruits and oak. This is a full-bodied, softly rich Syrah with spicy and cedary flavours. Serve with roasted game meat or Middle Eastern fare over the next 5-6 years. 17.5/20 Oct 2013 RRP $35.00
