Linden Estate Esk Valley Hawke’s Bay Gewurztraminer 2014

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 02-Sep-2015
Brilliant, even, light golden-hued straw-yellow colour, lighter on edge. The nose is robust and well-concentrated with complex aromas of savoury rose-petal florals, stonefruit kernels, root ginger, pungent spices and reductive minerally elements. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate features moderately rich and well-packed flavours of savoury yellow stonefruits, root ginger, stonefruit kernels and bitter musk. This exudes a subtle richness, and the wine has depth and density, with some alcoholic power and light phenolic textures providing drive and line. The acidity is soft, and the palate leads to a moderately sustained, savoury stonefruit finish. This is a strong, dry Gewurztraminer with concentrated flavours of savoury stonefruits, ginger and bitter musk, and balanced phenolic textures and drive. Match with Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 4 years. Estate fruit hand-picked and partially indigenous yeast fermented, a portion in oak to 13.4% alc. and 4 g/L RS. 17.5/20 Sep 2015 RRP $20.00
