Linden Estate Esk Valley Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 14-Jun-2016
Bright, light golden-yellow colour with some depth, a little lighter on the rim. The bouquet is full and solid, packed with aromas of savoury citrus and yellow stonefruits complexed by creamy, nutty barrel-ferment notes, with nuances of buttery MLF and flinty lees. Medium-full bodied, the palate features fulsome flavours of citrus and yellow stonefruits, entwined with lifted, cream and nutty barrel-ferment and toasty oak elements. Subtle flinty detail unfolds to add interest. The mouthfeel is vigorous and robust, showing plenty of weight and presence, along with fine grip and brisk, lively acidity. The wine carries to a strong, concentrated and full finish of citrus fruits, nuts and toast. This is a fulsome, robust, traditionally-styled Chardonnay with citrus and stonefruit flavours complexed by nutty and toasty oak. Clone 15 Chardonnay from the homestead block, hand-picked, WBP, and fully barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., partially with indigenous yeasts, the wine aged 11 months in new and seasoned oak casks. Match with grilled and roasted pork and veal dishes over the next 4+ years. 18.0-/20 Jun 2016 RRP $
