Linden Estate Esk Valley Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2012

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 13-Apr-2015
Moderately deep, light golden-yellow colour, lighter edged. This has a full and well-concentrated, densely packed bouquet of savoury yellow stonefruit complexed by notes of gunflint lees, smoky and toasty oak, nuts and some reductive elements. Medium-bodied, the palate is soft and gently mouthfilling with flavours of savoury yellow stonefruits harmoniously melded with waves of flinty lees, nuts and toasty oak. The wine is fulsome and rounded, now showing some secondary development and integration, the savoury flavours growing in breadth and openness. Good acid liveliness underlines the palate flow and the wine carries smoothly to a full, flavoursome, nutty and toasty finish. This is a full and harmoniously integrated Chardonnay with mouthfilling breadth and savoury, secondary, toasty development. Match with roast poultry and pork over the next 2-3 years. Clone 15 fruit from the homestead block, hand-picked and barrel-fermented, partially by indigenous yeasts, to 12.6% alc., the wine aged in French oak with 6 months batonnage. 17.5-/20 Apr 2015 RRP $25.00
