Clones 667, 777, 115, 114 and 5 Pinot Noir, the fruit from the Bendigo region fermented with a portion of whole bunch to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in French oak. Moderately deep ruby-red with some youthful purple hues, this has an elegant, tightly bound nose with lifted perfumes, dark cherry and raspberry fruit, dark herbs and notes of earth and smoke. Medium-bodied, the flavours of black berry fruits, raspberry liqueur and spices are expressed elegantly. Supple, soft tannins from moderate extraction and restrained acidity lend soft textures, with a smooth, plump mouthfeel resulting. This has depth and proportion, and the wine carries a very long finish of black cherries and red liquorice. This soft and supple Pinot Noir is lightly extracted, enabling approachability now and over the next 3+ years. Match with antipasto, poultry and pork. 16.5+/20 Apr 2012 RRP $24.99
