Lil Rippa Awatere Marlborough Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 09-Nov-2012
Pinot Gris fruit from the Blind River and other districts of the Awatere Valley, stainless-steel fermented to 13.5% alc. and 6 g/L rs, the wine given lees contact. Brilliant straw-yellow colour with golden hues, pale edged. The bouquet is fresh and finely presented with delicate aromas of mineral-infused white florals and subtle pear notes, lifted with esters and honeysuckle and nuances of exotic flowers. Dryish to taste, soft and gentle flavours of yellow stonefruits, pears an florals intertwined with mineral elements are lifted with fermentation ester notes. This has a good core with presence, power and weight, quite rounded in mouthfeel, with restrained acidity. The wine has drive, and finished with a moderately sustained finish of florals and pears. This is a gently flavoured and soft Pinot Gris with real presence. Match with Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 2-3 years. 17.5-/20 Nov 2012 RRP $18.99
