Leveret Estate Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2014

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 12-Mar-2015
Full, deep, dark ruby-red colour with black and purple hues. The nose is elegant with good intensity of fragrant black berry fruits lifted by white and black pepper notes, along with dark red florals. Subtle spice elements add detail. Medium-bodied and elegant in presentation, the palte features fine and perfumed black berried fruits integrated with white pepper, florals and spices. The mouthfeel is soft textured with fine-grained, supple tannins and balanced acidity. Attractively aromatic violet floral and peppery perfumes blossom on the finish, leading to a long, lingering finish. This is an elegant, fine-textured and aromatic Syrah with black fruits and white pepper flavours. Match with poultry, pork and Middle Eastern fare over the next 4-5 years. Fruit from the ‘Tantallon’ vineyard with 4.5% Viognier fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 50% 1 y.o. French oak. 17.5/20 Mar 2015 RRP $19.99
