Les Terres du Roy Cotes du Rhone 2013

Blended Red from France - Rhone
Review Date : 06-Aug-2016
Full, dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour with some garnet on the edge. The nose is gently full and voluminous with sweetly ripe dark raspberry fruit forming a softly packed core. The fruit is melded with garrigue herbs, a little pepper and some spicy elements adding interest. Medium-full bodied, the flavours of dark raspberries are bright and juicy, and form a concentrated heart which unfolds a layering of herbal nuances. The fruit is supported by fine, supple tannin extraction and integrated, background acidity. As the wine flows, the flavours recede, leading to a light, dry, textured finish with nuances of herbs, pepper and spice. This is an elegantly concentrated Cotes du Rhone with raspberry and herb flavours and a fine, drying structure. Match with antipasto and barbecued or roasted red meats over the next 4 years. From Cellier des Chartreux. A blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Cinsault from 40 y.o. vines on the hills overlooking the Pujaut Plain, near Avignon, fermented to 14.0% alc., and bottled without oaking. Winemaker: Antoine Gomez. 16.5+/20 Aug 2016 RRP $26.99
