Les Jamelles Syrah 2018 IGP Pays d’Oc, France

Syrah from France - Other
Review Date : 25-Aug-2020
Deep, ruby-red with some transparency, even colour throughout. The bouquet is straight-forward and attractive, aromas of blackcurrants, plums, melded along with floral, fresh herbs and sweet spices of vanilla, cinnamon. Medium-bodied, ripe fruit flavours of blackcurrants, plums, long with floral and spearmint, lingers with an amalgam of spices. The fruit is ripe and concentrated with good flavour and intensity, balanced acidity gives it freshness and lifts the spearmint nuance. Ripe tannin is fine and dusty, provides a good grip and layers to the wine. This is an appealing, straight-forward Syrah with ripe fruit flavours and moderate complexity. Match with meat with tomato base sauce and charcuteries over the next 2-3 years. Fermented to 13.5% alc. A portion aged in oak. 17.5+/20 pts Aug 2020 RRP $25
