Les Jamelles Merlot 2018 IGP Pays d’Oc, France

Merlot from France - Other
Review Date : 25-Aug-2020
Dark, ruby-red with some depth and a little transparent, even throughout. The nose is gently full with aromas of red berries, strawberries melded with oak spice element. Full-bodied, flavours of red berries and wild strawberries entwined with the oak spices of cardamon and nutmeg. The fruit is fleshy and lush with good intensity and acid balance. Fine-grained tannin extraction adds body and weight, youthful presence with a good grip; nutmeg and cardamon spices and fruit lingers to a sustained finish. This is a full-bodied red with lush red fruit and oak spice details on a fine-grained tannin grip. Match with grilled barbeque meat and meat pie with cheese over the next 2-4 years. Fermented to 13.5%. A portion of the cuvee aged in French and American oak. 17.5/20 pts Aug 2020 RRP $25
