Les Courtilles ‘Plan de Dieu’ Cotes du Rhone Villages 2012

Grenache from France - Rhone
Review Date : 04-Jun-2014
Full, near impenetrable black-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is concentrated and elegantly presented with gently packed aromas of ripe black berry and raspberry fruit complexed by subtle notes of earth, tar, minerals and spices. Medium-full bodied, tightly bound flavours of black berries and raspberry fruit form a densely concentrated core, integrated with soft, fine-grained tannin and structure. Some tarry, mineral details are present. The mouthfeel is dry, with soft acidity providing energy, and the palate follows a fine, grainy line, leading to a soft, dry finish. This is a soft, dry and textured, concentrated Cotes du Rhone Villages with ripe black fruit flavours. Match with roasted red meats and Mediterranean cuisine over the next 5+ years. 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah, from 35 y.o. vines on the right bank between Orange and Avignon, hand-picked and fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 9 months in large oak. Certified AB organic. 17.5+/20 Jun 2014 RRP $29.99
