Les Courtilles Cotes du Rhone 2013

Grenache from France - Rhone
Review Date : 11-May-2015
Very dark, deep, black-hued red colour with light ruby on the rim. The nose is soft and gentle with fragrant aromas of black cherries and dark raspberry fruit along with garrigue herb notes and savoury, earthy elements all harmoniously entwined, opening smoothly in volume with aeration. Medium-bodied, soft, lush, easy and accessible flavours of savoury red berry fruits, raspberries and herbs feature on a smooth-flowing palate. The fruit is supported by modest tannin extraction lending a supple mouthfeel. Peppery elements and red florals emerge and the wine carries through to a light, dry, moderately sustained finish of juicy red fruits and spices. This is an up-front, juicy and accessible Cotes du Rhone with raspberry and savoury herb flavours. Match with pasta, pizza and barbecued fare over the next 3-4+ years. A blend of 70% Grenache, 27% Syrah, 2% Mourvedre and 1% Carignan, the fruit hand-picked from 35 y.o. vines, making up 80% of the total wine with 20% barrel-matured Cotes du Rhone Villages from Plan de Dieu blended to 14.5% alc. 17.5-/20 May 2015 RRP $25.00
