Les Courtilles Cotes du Rhone 2012

Grenache from France - Rhone
Review Date : 05-May-2014
Hand-picked fruit, 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre from 35 y.o. vines between Orange and Avignon, destemmed and fermented to 14% alc. Full, dark, deep purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is fresh with bright and lifted primary fruit aromas of raspberries and savoury black berry fruits, intermixed with dark herb notes and confectionary-like whole berry fermentation nuances. Game-like elements emerge with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate features a softly deep heart with sweet, fleshy fruit flavours of dark red berry fruit, plums and jam, along with herbal and earthy notes. Gentle, grainy tannin structure provides a soft-textured mouthfeel and balancing grip for the fruit, and the flavours lead to a moderately long, berry and earthy-flavoured finish. This is an up-front, fruity Cotes du Rhone with fleshy raspberry and jammy flavours and a balanced, even mouthfeel. Serve with pasta and grilled red meat dishes over the next 4 years. 17.5-/20 May 2014 RRP $25.00
